Bonde’s remarks came a day after Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad announced cash reward to who slashes Gandhi's tongue
A day after Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad’s controversial remarks on Rahul Gandhi, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde said on Wednesday that the Congress leader’s tongue should be singed for making a statement about reservation and quota abroad.
On Tuesday, Gaikwad had said that he would give a cash reward to anyone who slashes Rahul Gandhi's tongue. Cases have been registered against Gaikwad and Bonde in Buldhana and Amravati respectively.
Maharashtra Congress has reacted sharply to the statements by Gaikwad and Bonde.
State Congress president Nana Patole said that Congress activists will hit the streets on Thursday to protest against Gaikwad and Bonde.
He said Bonde is not even worthy of talking about Rahul Gandhi. Congress can give a fitting reply to these people in the same language but it's not the culture of the party, said Patole adding “everyone knows how Bonde became MP”.
Patole also said that Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge had written a letter to the prime minister urging him to take action against elements like Gaikwad and Bonde but there has been no action. "The silence by Prime Minister Modi and home minister Amit Shah clearly means that they support these elements," stated Patole.
