“Yeh ek aisa maamla hai jo duniya bhar mein charcha ka vishay bana aur vyapak ninda ka saamna kiya。” Yeh vaakya Roop Kanwar ki kahani aur uski hamare samaj par hone wali gehri prabhav ko saaf dikhata hai। Bharat ki aakhri "sati" mahila ke roop mein, Kanwar ki maut 1987 mein desh mein kathor bahas ka kaaran bani, aur yeh bahas aaj bhi jaari hai। Haal hi mein aath aropiyon ki behriyat ka faisla phir se samaj ko is ghatna ki taraf khinch raha hai, jo sansthaagat anyaay aur gender bhedbhav ki dirghkaleen upasthiti ko dikhata hai।

Kanwar ki kahani shuru hoti hai jab usne apne pati ke antim sanskar par agni ko samarpit kiya। Is parivar aur Rajput samudaay ne kaha ki yeh uska apna faisla tha, lekin kayi gavaahon ne bataya ki usse bahut bade samajik dabav ke neeche yeh karne par majboor kiya gaya. Yeh humein yeh sochne par majboor karta hai ki kitni mahilaen aise bhaari dabav ke neeche sach mein apna faisla kar sakti hain?

Hamare samaj mein, bahut si mahilaen aksar aise dabav ka samna karti hain। Kanwar ki ghatna sirf ek vyakti ki tragedy nahi hai, balki poore samaj ka ek nakami hai jab wo gender asamaanata aur paramparaon ke dabav ka samna karta hai。 Jaise aam log, khaas kar gaon ki mahilaen, is baat ko achhe se samajhti hain ki unka jeevan kis prakar ke vyavhar aur samajik maryada se prabhavit hota hai।

Haal hi mein aayi is faisle par mahilaon ke adhikaar karyakartaon ka virodh dekhne ko mila hai, jo dar rakhte hain ki yeh “sati” ki mahimakarana ko dobara janm de sakta hai aur mahilaon ko isi tarah ke halaton mein phir se daal sakta hai। Yeh humare liye ek samasya hai jo humen bilkul nahi sahni chahiye। Humein sab milkar har tarah ki “sati” sanskriti ke khilaf khade hona chahiye aur yeh sunishchit karna chahiye ki har mahila ko surakshit jeene ka adhikaar hai।

Is ghatna ke liye humen sirf dekhna nahi chahiye। Aam Bharat ki mahilaen, khaas kar gaon ki mahilaen, aksar is prakar ki samasyaon ka samna karti hain। Unki kahaniyan sunni chahiye aur unki himmat ko sarahna chahiye। Humein unka saath dena chahiye jo nyay ki talash mein hain aur kisi bhi tarah ke atyaachar aur dabav ke khilaf khade hona chahiye。

Nyay ki prapti ke liye samaj ke har varg ka yogdan avashyak hai, sirf kanoon par adharit nahi। Chahe sarkar ho ya aam nagrik, sabko is prakar ke dukhdaayak ghatnaon ke dohraane ko rokne ke liye zyada sakriya bhag lena chahiye।

Humein sirf Roop Kanwar ka naam yaad nahi rakhna chahiye, balki un mahilao ka naam bhi yaad rakhna chahiye jo unka pratinidhitva karti hain। Unki kahani bhool jaane ki nahi hai, balki yeh hamare liye nyay ke liye sangharsh karne ki prerna honi chahiye。 Yeh humein yaad dilata hai ki mahilaon ki raksha aur samman ke liye ek saath milkar ladna zaroori hai, aur aaj ke samaj mein mahilaon ke adhikaron ki raksha kitni mahatvapurn hai。
