Terrorism continues to be a serious threat to global peace and security, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the United Nations on Monday. He added that areas such as cyber, maritime and space are emerging as new theatres of conflict.

In his address at the UN's landmark Summit of the Future, the prime minister stressed that global action on these issues must match global ambition.

"While on one hand, terrorism continues to be a serious threat to global peace and security, on the other hand, cyber, maritime and space are emerging as new areas of conflict. On all these issues, I will stress that global action must match global ambition," he said.

"Success of humanity lies in our collective strength, not in the battlefield,” the prime minister added in a statement that comes in the backdrop of Russia-Ukraine war and Israel-Hamas conflict.

Modi said a "human-centric approach" should be given top priority in any discussion on the the future of the world. Human welfare, food and health security must also be ensured while prioritising sustainable development, he added.

"By lifting 250 million people out of poverty in India, we have demonstrated that Sustainable Development can be successful," he said.

The prime minister also called for reforms in the global institutions, saying these are essential for global peace and development.

Talking about the global digital governance, Modi said digital public infrastructure should be a bridge, and not a barrier. He added that India is ready to share its DPI with the entire world.

“For India, One Earth, One Family, One Future is a commitment," the prime minister asserted.
